Public Opinions Are Open to Public Opinion

I don’t want this to come off as a bitch fest or anything, but I’m a little confused by the attitude I’ve seen from a Xangan who voiced her emotional opinion on the Casey Anthony trial and then got extremely angry with a couple of people (me included) when they began to address specific points she had made — even going so far as to tell someone that addressing her points was off-topic to her blog post.

It seems to me that if you’re going to post something on a public forum you should expect that it will not only be subjected to public scrutiny but that you may very well be confronted about assumptions and emotionally-charged statements you make. If I held a view that I knew would be controversial and I didn’t want to be questioned about it, I’d keep it to myself. It’s the only way to ensure that you can hold your opinion without having to defend it.

So this person started out by taking respectful comments from me and replying to them respectfully. When she made another point I’d address that point and wait for a response. Eventually she accused me of being an unintelligent troll (she also said people who don’t agree with her are idiots) and told me to get the hell off of her blog. So I did, and I never intend to go back. I was in it for the discussion, not the attitude.

Thinking of it now, I have no idea why she was on my friends list but she was. I’ve removed her in order to get away from that negativity. Do any of you have experiences like this where a person airs their views and then abuses everyone who disagrees?

  1. Oh yeah, Diva_Jyoti3. She takes debates too seriously and personally. I’ve seen her block dissenters pretty liberally in the past. I’ve also had the “troll” charge thrown at me several times when it were unwarrented.

I was blocked, unblocked, and now reblocked by her. I liked her and was on pretty good terms with her until the reblock.

There is also belief that she also posts under NewDog2 (at least for part of the time).

  2. @musterion99 – That doesn’t mean that she logs into his site and posted under his account.

Most couples don’t blog from the same computer terminal at the same time to visit the same sites.

Plus, if it weren’t true, she probably wouldn’t have blocked me for bringing it up.

That could be the reason she blocked you. Because she was tired of being falsely accused of being NewDog. Meh, I don’t really care. I just thought I’d mention that they were in videos together.

*Hee Haw, hee haw*– obvious affectations. Have you seen her other personality, SultrySally? *gigglez*

Another Xagan with an IP tracker pretty much confirmed that both accounts were accessed at the same time from the same IP from likely the same person. After this documenting entry was written, New_Dog1 and SultraySally1 both closed their accounts.

When both Diva_Djyoti3 and NewDog2 were visiting my sites, they left footprints literally within a minute of one antoher. I don’t see how this is plausible as a regular activity unless they were conjoined twins.

Yeah, supposedly that is NewDog’s daughter. I’m iffy about that one.

NewDog1 closed and then came back as NewDog2 but he got tired of xanga and pretty much stopped posting.

Who knows. Like I said, they’ve been in videos together. In the videos, he acknowledges being NewDog. You might be right. I don’t know.

  6. @musterion99 – I think you’re largely right, and you could be completely right.

My theory is that when NewDog2 is away, Diva_Jyoti3 occasionally (or use to) blog under that account.

I’m only a few hours away from Diva_Jyoti and wouldn’ve liked to meet her in a future California Xanga meetup. But meh, dunno if she’s the forgiving type.

  7. @Celestial_Teapot – She seems to be forgiving if she discerns sincerity. I’ve seen where she used to be mad at some people, like TrunThePaige, but now they comment on each other’s blogs, even though they still disagree. They’re more civil towards one another though.
