“True” Tolerance

A lot of people have probably already seen the Focus on the Family’s new Web site, truetolerance.org. This site appears to be a response to public schools’ anti-bullying programs where children are presented with the idea that different lifestyles are not evil. The way they present the information, it’s positioned as though implementing anti-bullying laws against sexual orientation is exactly identical in every way to not-so-subtly suggesting that everybody should choose that sexual orientation. They’re trying to turn kids gay!

Concerned about homosexual advocacy in your child’s school? You’ve come to the right place. TrueTolerance.org helps you respond in a loving and fact-based way. Click the links below for tips on communicating with your school officials.

Teh gayz iz infexus!

In the video on the front page the woman explains that in some classes they even present sexually graphic material to the children. Now, I’m not personally involved in the school systems but I have to seriously doubt the veracity of this statement – unless the “sexually graphic” material being presented is akin to the “sexually graphic” content of sex ed classes. In that case, I’d suspect that it’s presented in a clinical manner to educate, not to indoctrinate. I have a hard time believing that our schools are trying their damnedest to convert the entire school to homosexuality. What would be the point??

Welcome to sex ed, m’kay?

I ran into a similar argument when I was talking to my father some time ago about homosexuality. He told me that homosexuals are recruiting and that they try to get kids as young as possible so they can mold them and turn them gay. I was appalled and felt nauseated. All I could do is tell him that I knew nothing of any homosexual recruiting campaign. I added that since his religion pretty much perfected and perpetuates this sort of tactic, he’s really just projecting. I mean, apart from the church(es), what group of people can you name who starts indoctrinating children straight out of the womb?

Get ’em while they’re young!

Anyway, Focus on the Family sickens me to no end. My parents idolize James Dobson and his hate-filled views on the world, transparently disguised as “family values.” They want to retain their rights to persecute and marginalize groups of people and are attempting to organize their lackeys to petition school districts and governmental representatives with their boilerplate e-mails and “educational materials” so that these anti-bullying laws will be repealed. Just what, do you suppose, Jesus would freaking do?!

  1. Odd. Church’s do not teach hate.  Tolerance is taught.
however, there is an epistle that talks about love and marriage being between man and woman.

At the time when the first epistles and narrative of the NT was written, majority of it was either written in greek or hebrew.  I’m wondering if that had anything to do with anti-homosexual acts since it was tumultuous times where Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, the Greek/Roman Gods, Nero, Jesus, Pharisees, prophets and their philosophies/teachings and other variable factors were going on.

Are you from the south/the bible belt? not to insult, just wondering.

WWJD?  Not sure. He was there, according to the new testament, from the beginning and in the beginning, it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

    /shrug

  2. Our little Jimmy might learn that there are people who don’t think exactly like his parents, and we can’t allow that!

    @BenelliMan – [Church’s do not teach hate.]
Are you completely unaware of Westboro Baptist and their God Hates Fags campaign?

[in the beginning, it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.]
That’s just simple biology. Kinda hard to populate the planet with two non-breeding individuals. Never once in the creation account does it say God made them this way as a reason why homosexuality is wrong.

  3. @BenelliMan – Which churches? The churches (and family) in which I grew up were vehemently anti-homosexual so much that they teach these same things that Focus on the Family is pushing. Gays recruit! Gays are pedophiles! Gays are destroying America!

“Adam and Steve” are not the issue here. Gross intolerance, ignorance and fear-mongering are. And the Web site is called “TRUE tolerance.” How’s that for irony?

  4. @GodlessLiberal – Comparing a few churches to the rest of the churches throughout the world is the same as blaming a few Muslims who commit terrorists acts to all of Islam throughout the world.  Simple biology, and never an account on why homosexuality is wrong?  Did you read the Laws of Hammurabi?  The 10 commandments (which is actually more than 10) is almost a reflection of that law.  It neither mentions man with man relationship.  It’s almost assumed as if all marriages were between man and woman.  NOT SAYING that homosexuality did not occur back, becasue it’d be a stupid statement on it’s own.  Greeks were probably the earliest civilization to document homosexuality as a norm.

So going back to my comment which, most likely you’ve skimmed over, in the NT (new testament)
“At the time when the first epistles and narrative of the NT was written, majority of it was either written in greek or hebrew.  I’m wondering if that had anything to do with anti-homosexual acts since it was tumultuous times where Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, the Greek/Roman Gods, Nero, Jesus, Pharisees, prophets and their philosophies/teachings and other variable factors were going on.” -ME
Apostle Paul writes about love being between a man and a woman.  majority of the epistles were written by him. You know, the Jew who hates Christians, danced in joy every time one disciple was killed? He literally danced, when the robes of Stephen was presented to him.
Anyhoo, I do know about the westboro church.  I’m wearing a uniform.  Can’t yuo see it clearly?  If “God hates Fags” like they put on their messages, I can guarantee it wasn’t written so in any part of the bible.  God making our soldiers die because of homosexuality?  Seems like they’re bored idiots without any education.  There are many brave homosexuals who do not come out of the closet and are distinguished members of the U.S. military.  There’s a story on a famous Marine whom received a silver cross… but someone googled his name on the internet and found he used to be in amateur gay porn and was kicked out.  But he’s still PROUD to be a Marine.  Bureaucracy is the most powerful form of control over our society.

@CoderHead – “Gays Recruit” No, again you’re talking to someone who is educated in sociology/psychology yet, I am proud to say I’m Christian.  No, I don’t believe Gays recruit.  However, I do believe our society (the American people) bend over backwards for minorities (I don’t mean ethnic minorities but belief minorities).  Our country has become so sensitive to something and anything that if it offends someone, legislation changes so that the majority become the offenders.  I could go deep into this topic, but no. Gays do not recruit.
You’ve must’ve grown up in a very tough environment.

Gays are pedophiles:  Ignorant statement right there.  Homosexuality and pedophilia are two different things.  Tell you old church to take some soc/psych classes and maybe they’ll learn a thing or two about that.  That’s almost as saying only slutty-dressed girls get raped.  No.  The issue is a mental disease/disorder and the love of the power and putting the other person in a powerless situation.  Pedophilia in it’s own is a topic but definitely, gays are not pedophiles.  That’s so stupid of anyone to say.
Like I’ve mentioned in my comment, are you from the bible belt? did you attend bible thumping churches while at the same time racial rhetorics were being taught?
There is no such thing as a perfect church b/c in Christianity, only two deities were perfect.  Jesus, and God.  Human fallacy is the reason why there were so many wars declared in the name of religion  (in my opinion, an excuse for the elites to grab land and make money off of war)  and my friend, that’s not just Christians. That’s every religion throughout history.
Name one “godless” society, tribe, ancient people, city state, region of people that had history without a belief in a higher power?
None until modernization came about.  There were always few individuals who’ve made impact in the scientific and religious communities who were atheist, but in general, as a whole, most had a higher belief.  Again, this topic, we can go further into.  I’m not a spammer, just responding to the comments you’ve both left me.

  5. You guys all realize, also that there openly homosexuals are being ordained and I believe one has already become a bishop in the Vatican.

There are also churches, in San Francisco and West Hollywood, few places over the U.S. that have homosexual Pastor’s, Reverends, Deacons and so forth.

I find it funny because it seems you two generalize a lot more than sociologists.  Sociologists are notorious for over-generalization.

  6. @BenelliMan – [Comparing a few churches to the rest of the
churches throughout the world is the same as blaming a few Muslims who
commit terrorists acts to all of Islam throughout the world.]
You said “No Church’s [sic]” and I pointed out one. I never said all or even most.

My biology point was referring to why Adam and Steve is a horrible argument. You seem to enjoy extrapolating far more from my statements than I put in, especially considering I specifically put parameters on them to constrain you from doing so.

  7. @GodlessLiberal – I will correct my statement “Church should not teach hate”
Adam and Steve was a hot topic when the book was first published. Maybe you were too young to realize what a wave it created in the religious community.

Parameters?  How much parameters are you looking for?  you haven’t said anything else in my response to your comments.  Are you offended?

Did you even read the rest of my response(s)?  Seems like you’re going out of your way to make me look like an ignorant person.  I am a Christian, do I hate “fags”?  No. Do I think homosexuals brainwash our children? no.  Did I ever say pedophilia is the same as homosexuality? no.

Did you, I say again, read all my responses? Seems like a big “NO”
    Have a nice day

  8. @GodlessLiberal – I never said “No Church”  I said “Churches do not teach hate.” with the exception that I made a grammatical error and wrote “church’s” with that said  I clarified myself.  Now, why are you so selective in my responses?  I don’t see you actually reading anything I wrote.    have a nice day.

  9. @BenelliMan – My apologies on adding the “no”, but even with “churches do not teach hate” your statement is proven false.

Could it be I’m selectively responding to your comments because I only wish to respond to selections? Of course you don’t see me reading everything you write, you cannot see me. I am, however, reading it all.

[Adam and Steve was a hot topic when the book
was first published. Maybe you were too young to realize what a wave it
    created in the religious community.]
I’m discussing Adam and Steve the argument, not the book (I wasn’t even aware it was a book).

[Parameters?  How much parameters are you looking for?  you haven’t said anything else in my response to your comments.]
I’m not ASKING for parameters FROM you, I have been GIVING parameters TO you. For example, I said “Never once in the creation account.” You responded with something about the commandments, which you rightly stated were more than ten (613) but wrongly stated didn’t mention homosexuality (ex: Lev 18:22).

[Seems like you’re going out of your way to make me look like an ignorant person.]
I’ve responded with a grand total of four tiny paragraphs to you thus far, so if that’s out of my way then it would appear I didn’t have to go very far. The fact is, I am replying to the parts of your statement I choose to reply to, and do so in order to clarify my position or correct what you said, not to make you appear ignorant.

[I am a Christian, do I hate “fags”?  No. Do I
think homosexuals brainwash our children? no.  Did I ever say
pedophilia is the same as homosexuality? no.  ]
Did I ever say you did any of these things? No. Are you inferring things that aren’t there? Yes.

  10. @GodlessLiberal – That’s why I said have you read all of my responses.  It included the owner of this page.  I wanted to knock out two birds with one stones.
Leviticus 18:22 is not part of the commandments as the commandments were mentioned in exodus and deuteronomy.  They were Laws.
Am I twisting your words? Seems like you’re twisting mine.

“No. Are you inferring things that aren’t there? Yes.”
Nope, because I asked if you’ve read all my responses or are you selectively reading my responses in coderhead’s post?
And in context to Leviticus, it was clarified, like I said in the epistles.  in Romans 1:27, 1 Corinthians 6:9, 1 timoth 1:10, and the good ole’ story of Sodom and Gomorrah.

I get it. You hate Christians. Now let’s see you talk about other religions.

  11. @BenelliMan – My apologies, I forgot where the 613 Mitzvot begin and end.

[Nope, because I asked if you’ve read all my responses or are you selectively reading my responses in coderhead’s post?]
I read all your comments, but assume your responses to CH are to CH and not to me. So when you hit reply to me, then act like I’ve been saying you think gays are all pedophiles, I feel the need to correct you.

[And in context to Leviticus, it was
clarified, like I said in the epistles.  in Romans 1:27, 1 Corinthians
6:9, 1 timoth 1:10, and the good ole’ story of Sodom and Gomorrah.  ]
Leviticus was clarified in Sodom and Gomorrah? Even though S&G was in Genesis? And all later references to them in the Bible talk of adultery and sinning, not homosexuality.

[I get it. You hate Christians. Now let’s see you talk about other religions.]
Yes master, I bow and obey.

  12. @GodlessLiberal – LOL! Don’t call me master. Call me “that guy who just believes in something I don’t”

Yeah, sodom and Gomorrah were referred in Genesis 19:1-29.  I know that.  I think you know the story behind it also. It was inferred that homosexuality had something to do with the destruction of the two places… and the fact that it was ancient sin cities.

And yes, thank you for understanding that my though my comments were “@” someone, I was hoping you’d read it understand it a bit more.

There we go. We’re building something called “rapport.”

    Have a nice day.
